Join us at one of our upcoming events

Etobicoke Master Gardeners’
Winter Lecture Series 2026

All lectures are at Kingsway-Lambton United Church, 85 The Kingsway, Etobicoke - see details below

Romantic Gardens for the Dreamer
Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 7 - 9pm
Historic roots for the romantic gardens are found in the Arts & Crafts, Picturesque and Renaissance movements. Join presenter Frank Kershaw as we learn how the garden’s elements, characteristics and plant material enable privacy, contemplation and beauty. The gardens are traversable, sheltering and often contain elevation changes. Water elements, bird songs, and careful lighting work together to create a wonderful stage for romance and imagination. Plant material figures prominently in the theme of romance and fancy:  Forget Me Not, Bleeding Heart, Tulips, or is that
two lips?
Come and find out…

The Wonder of Trees – Pruning, an Exercise in Thought and Consideration
Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 7 - 9pm
Join arborist Todd Irvine in the sequential talk to 2025’s The Wonder of Trees. Ask the challenging questions on Why, How and When
to prune?
What is required - Removal or Reduction?
Home garden shrubs and small trees, mature trees that may require an arborist, and how to choose an arborist if the job is too big.
Anything else about Pruning that you want to know?

Gardening on the Edge – Adapting You & Your Garden to Climate Warming
Tuesday, April 14, 2026, 7 - 9pm
Record breaking temperatures, unprecedented rainfall, storm events, extended growing seasons and shortened winters have led to revisions in plant hardiness zones. Carolinian flora, unique for its beauty, rarity and attraction to native pollinators is extending well beyond its southern Ontario base.
Want to teeter on the edge?
Join our presenter, Frank Kershaw, who has more than 50 years gardening experience with unusual plants in difficult times. Frank will provide insight, success stories and techniques of the many trees, shrubs, vines and perennials that are making inroads in our area during this time of change
.

All lectures are at:
Kingsway-Lambton United Church
85 The Kingsway, Etobicoke M8X 2T6
Main glass doors open at 6:40pm
Street Parking – Admission by donation/pwyc
